Dog park cakes

Most of the cakes I’ve been doing lately (these included) have been for my weekend baking job at Salem Kitchen and it’s been a great way to practice piping and work on some things I’ve never done before. One thing I have always wanted to learn how to do is to sculpt cute animals out of fondant. Back in art school I took a few sculpture classes and though I did well with making pinch pots, cups,  and other simple things, animals were never my strong suit. Thanks to youtube, though,  I was able to watch a few videos and learn some cool techniques in order to decorate these awesome cakes for a little boy who wanted a dog-themed birthday party.

Dog park cake. I used a round tip to pipe a "gravel" path out of grey buttercream and used a flat tipped cake icer for the smooth grass.
